Factory was set up by SCWS because Leverhome would not supply Co-op if dividend were paid on it. Grangemouth site was chosen because of port and rail facilities, especially imports of tallour from New Zealand and foreign oils - coconut oils - etc. Open pan boiling method was 7 day process
