display; pottery

Description
Process display for pottery. This item may have been an educational tool or a sales man's display, probably the former. It consists of three rows of "windows" segmented by wood. The top row has 8 windows, the middle 12 and the bottom 9. In the windows are the component parts of making pottery ie. clay, minerals and various miniature pots showing finishes such as raised patterns, sponged design and glazed and unglazed. The item appear to have had a outside piece of timber to trap the glass which is slipped in as a cover. At some point a tape was put on to replace the timber but this has failed and peeled off but left the under side of the tape weave. The glass itself is badly cut at the end that is held in the groove.

As this item was from Bo'ness it may have been made using local products.
