Subject notes
Grangemouth Town Council purchased a pump in 1902. The fire under the pump boiler was lit on leaving the fire station and within 7 minutes there was sufficient pressure to power the pump. The engine was drawn at speed by two horses, and with the pump belching smoke, it was a remarkable sight. After the First World War the pump was towed by a lorry. A motorised fire engine replaced it in 1928.
