The Pipers of Allendale was a piping band established by the MacLachlan family during the 1930s. In 1939 four of the brothers joined the Territorial Army detachment of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Two of the brothers, Malcolm MacLachlan, and Ian MacLachlan, died during the war. The band was revived after the war by Pipe-Major John Smith of Denny. The band disbanded in the early 1950s.
