The first part of the training manual for scientific advisors with operational data about blast effects, thermal radiation effects, initial gamma effects, and fallout. The manual goes together with the two plastic computers to calculate blast casualty and radiation. It contains many graphs and tables to exemplify the calculations. The training manual has been written by the Scientific Advisory Branch of the Home Office to supplement the information imparted during initial training courses for local authority scientific advisers. It contains the scientific and procedural knowledge needed to carry out the war duties effectively. The manual replaces the Scientific Intelligence Officers' Operational Notes (from 1965).
