Description
Tramlines are being laid by a squad of men. A sign reads 'Bruce Peebles Co Ltd, Engineers & Contractors, Head Office & Works, East Pilton, Edinburgh.' To the right is a horse drawn cart and to the left men and a boy look on. The boy has what might be a gird and cleek. Album caption reads: Laying the tram track near Carron Iron Works. Year 1904"

Spacer bars ensured the lines were the correct distance apart. The factory seen faintly on the left is the Carron Iron Works. Trams played an important role in transporting workers to and from the Works. Additional trams were laid on for changes of shift.
