Subject notes
Smith and Wellstood's lighter Caledonia is moored next to the foundry. It was used to transport goods down to the Clyde at Bowling. The company owned the Columbian Stove Works in Bonnybridge. The area had good canal and rail access for bringing in coal and iron and exporting the heavy finished products such as cast-iron kitchen ranges. GR NS 824 800.
