A lorry with solid rubber tyres is decorated by the Bo'ness Co-operative Society Limited. It carries the slogans 'Deeds not Words', 'Co-operate and Educate' and advertises Unitas breakfast oats, 'The Cream of the Midlothian oat crop'.

The float was part of the Bo'ness Infirmary Pageant. Until the creation of the National Health Service in the late 1940s, hospitals were funded mainly by charity.

Bo'ness Co-op was a retail society and Unitas oats were probably made by the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society. Oats were the basis of the Scottish diet prior to the introduction of the potato and porridge was (and is) a healthy and cheap breakfast cereal.
