The houses were built mainly in the 1890-1900 decade, for the middle-classes. After the First World War, stone became too expensive and was replaced by brick, usually covered in harling. Some houses were built with dormers, others had them added later to allow the roof space to be converted into additional bedrooms. 9271 7782
