Subject notes
Entertainments of various kinds were provided in Denny Town Hall. It was destroyed by fire in May 1937 and the Cinema De Luxe was later built on the site. It has been suggested that in February 1934 the hall was the location of the first Public demonstration of television in Scotland. Others suggest that Baird himself may have held a demonstration, perhaps unsuccessful, as early as 1923 in Carron Church Hall. Baird worked for a time with John Thomas Hart, a Falkirk radio engineer and a 'televisor' given to Hart is in Falkirk Museums' collection.
