The church dates from the late 12th century and was reconstructed c1650. It was abandoned in 1820 when a new church was built in Airth. The tower is 17th century with four floors and doocot in the roof. The roof no longer exists. There are many carved slabs in and outside the church including that of a veiled lady lying with dogs at her feet and mortsafes, designed to prevent grave robbing.
