Subject notes
The woman is working at a sewing frame. The tapes are held below the desk and are stretched by raising the horizontal bar. The pages were sown together into sections which were then glued and bound together before the hardcover was added. In a more expensive binding, the tapes were recessed. The woman is working on a medium quality finish. Dunn & Wilson was incorporated in 1926 as a bookbinding and paper conservation company.
