Seven high flats were built here by Crudens in 1965 and others were built about the same time elsewhere in the town. They housed those displaced by slum clearance of tenements and redevelopment. High flats were popular with local authorities in the 1960s. Not all became successful communities and some have been demolished, but this has not been the case in Falkirk. In 2000 they were refurbished, with the balconies being glazed and roofs enclosed.
