Description
Part 1 : Silk, satin and velvet long sleeve bodice. Charcoal silk fabric and embroidery, gold embroidery and buttons while the velvet is very dark green. Hem slopes down to double points below the waist at the front and back. Hem is weighted by 4 triangular metal weights, one at each side and one at each point at back. The collar is velvet and is sewn on separately, it fastens with a hook and a thread covered wire eye. Darts extend from hem half way up the jacket, the outer one on each side is stiffened with one stay on each side, possibly bone. Ribbons extend across the back above the hem, sewn on to lining at seams but loose in between. Two tails sewn on at the back between and attached to the back points of fabric. One is embroidered silk the other is velvet. Both are gathered and lined with net. Very small size. Victorian.
Part 2 : Skirt with side panels and hem flounces in dark green velvet. Roll of padding under the hem at the front and around the sides to bustle. Back and front central panels lined with net, side panels lined with muslin. Lining of overlap of velvet panel at opening and material around the stiffeners of the bustle is light brown glazed cotton. Very small size.
