Description
Oddfellow regalia. This apron shows the full emblem of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows.
Part 1 : Purple sash with a red stripes down either side and gold coloured tassels at the ends. Sash is closed with a toggle showing a globe with two laurel leave on either side with the word "BRITAIN" across the globe. Under the globe and leaves is a bar with "TUTILL / LONDON" embossed on it. It is finished with six twisted metal tassels. In the centre of the sash as it would be worn is a badge. It is an 8 pointed start with a circle in the centre showing terrestrial globe with a shield showing, the hourglass, crossed keys, beehive and lamb. On each side are the figure of Faith (with the cross) and Hope (with the anchor).
Part 2 : Masonic apron decorative trim in gold stiff wire/thread. In centre is large image of shield surmounted by a terrestrial globe and hand on heart with the all seeing eye over the top. Below is a shield showing, the hourglass, crossed keys, beehive and lamb. On each side are the figure of Faith (with the cross) and Hope (with the anchor). Beneath this is a man tending the sick and below this Charity whit children. In the bottom corners are a man on a harp and on the other a globe with "UNITY" on it. Printed onto fabric "G. Tutill/Artist/83 City Road/London/Britain" for the maker. Apron is secured about the waist with a purple cord closed with a snake shaped clasp.
