Since this congregation joined the United Presbyterian Church in 1847, its denomination prior to 1820 would have been either New Licht Burgher or New Licht Anti-Burgher; not Relief, as this would have appeared on the token. The change of minister in 1823 (to John Craig) makes it very likely that this token belonged to City Road (a former New Licht Anti- Burgher Church).
