Description
Bronze medal used as an award for a rifle shooting competition. It is decorated on the obverse with an image of a crest with a crown and lion and on the reverse is an image of a three towered castle on a background of thistles. Embossed on the obverse is "CALEDONIAN CHALLENGE SHIELD INST. 1863" and on the reverse is "CITY OF EDINBURGH & MIDLOTHIAN RIFLE ASSOC. INST 1861".
