Description
Bimetallic token with a copper rim and silver (most are 60% zinc and 40% nickel) centre. Decorated on the obverse with an image of a bust and on the reverse is a circle and beading. Embossed on the obverse is "ONE PENNY 1 MODEL" and on the reverse is "ONE PENNY VICTORIA REG MODEL".

These token were made by Joseph Moore (Birmingham) between 1844-1848. The British government of the time were thinking of replacing the heavy copper coins and Moore issues these, they were never adopted. They were however, so popular that the Royal Mint had to make an official announcement saying that they did not make them.
