Guinea note from the Falkirk Union Bank. Decorated in black ink with an image on the obverse of thistles, roses and shamrocks entwined. "5th OCT 1812" printed on. Printed on the obverse is "ONE GUINEA TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO G. PATON KIRKWOOD (&) SONS NO 43 122 5TH OCT 1812 THE FALKIRK UNION BANK PROMISE TO PAY OR THE BEARER ON DEMAND ONE GUINEA AT THEIR OFFICE HERE 43 122 BY ORDER OF THE COMPANY CASHIER ENTD BY (signature) 1819 OCT 5 PRODUCED (illegible hand writing)." On the reverse is "1819 OCT 5TH DATE (written by hand - wrong date)". Revenue stamp is a crowned plaque and wreath and has "four pence" written on it. Made of woven paper.
