Description
Five pound note from Falkirk Union Bank. Printed on wove paper from a copper plate. Decorated with black ink and on the obverse is an image of thistles, roses and shamrocks entwined and an oval picture of a standing lady. . "FIVE POUNDS./ No. [65//296] FALKIRK 9 Augt/ 1813/ The Falkirk Union Bank/ Promise to pay [Wm Gentles] or/ The Bearer on demand, Five Pounds/ At their Office here No. [65//296] By Order of the Company/ James Brown Cashier/ Entd. pr [Will Horn]/ Falkirk UNION Bank".
Printed over the top is "Claim No. [2082]/ Dividends/ Paid" and written beside it "19 June 1818/ by Robt Se----".
On revenue stamps is written "ONE SHILLING".
