Description
Twenty pound note from Falkirk Union Bank. Decorated in black, green and red ink. The obverse has an image of thistles, roses and shamrocks entwined and an image of a woman standing over a thistle with ship in the background. Printed on the obverse is "£20/ TWENTY POUNDS/ No. [10//73]/ Falkirk [9 Augt 1813]/ The Falkirk Union Bank/ Promise to pay to [Wm Gentles] or the bearer/ on demand Twenty Pounds Sterg at their/ Office here/ No.[10//73]/ By order of the Company./ [James Brown] Cashier/ Entd. pr [Will Horn]/ G. Paton sers Kirkwood & Sons/ FALKIRK UNION BANK
stamped in red ink across the front:"Claim, No [972]/ First Dividend/ PAID". On the revenue stamp is "ONE SHILLING SIXPENCE". On the reverse is "FALKIRK 55 120/200/54/20/424/£34.
