Twenty pound note from Falkirk Union Bank. On the obverse in black ink is an image of a standing female figure with a thistle and ship. Printed on the obverse is "£20/ TWENTY POUNDS/ No. [10//118] Falkirk [9 Augt 1813]/ The Falkirk Union Bank/ Promise to pay [Wm gentles] or the bearer/ on demand Twenty Pounds Sterg. at their/ Office here No. [10//118]/ By Order of the Company./ [James brown] cashier/ Entd. pr. [Will. Horn]/ G.Paton fer. Kirkwood & Sons/ FALKIRK UNION BANK"
Stamped in red ink:"Claim No. [972]/ First Dividend/ PAID"
On the revenue stamp is "ONE SHILLING/ SIXPENCE".
This note has been taped at the corners onto a glass plate, with a second plate over the top!!
