Guinea note issued by the Falkirk Union Bank. Decorated on the obverse in black ink with thistles, roses and shamrock entwined Writing on reverse done by hand after issue. Printed on wove paper from a copper plate engraving by Kirkwood and Sons to a design by G Paton. Printed on the obverse is "One Guinea/ TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO/ G Paton Guplit Kirkwood & Sons/ No. [51//485] FALKIRK [10 Oct 1814]/ The Falkirk Union Bank/ Promise to pay [ Gentles] or/ The bearer on demand, ONE GUINEA/ At their Office here No. [51//458] By Order of the Company/ [James Brown] Cashier/ Entd. pr. [Will Horn]". On the revenue stamp is written "FOUR PENCE". On the watermark is "FALKIRK UNION BANK".
