Description
Guinea note issued by Falkirk Union Bank, printed on woven paper from a copper plate engraved by Kirkwood and Sons from a design by G Paton. It is decorated on the obverse with roses, thistles and shamrock entwined. Printed on the obverse is "One Guinea/ TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO/ G. Paton scriplit Lirkwood & Sons/ No. [51/625]/ FALKIRK/ [10 Oct/ 1814]/ The Falkirk Union Bank/ Promise to pay [Wm Gentles] or/ The bearer on demand, ONE GUINEA/At their Office here No.[51//625]/ By Order of the Company/ [James Brown] Cashier/ Entd. pr [Will Horn]". On the revenue stamp is "FOUR PENCE" and on the watermark "FALKIRK UNION BANK".
