Pound note issued by the Commercial Banking Company of Scotland. Printed 1 May 1825 this note is a forgery. It is decorated in black ink on the obverse with an image of a view of Edinburgh Castle. Printed on the obverse is :"ONE/ Pound/ No. [457//14]/ EDINBURGH, [1 MAY 1825]/ The Commercial Banking Compy:/ of Scotland promise to pay to Robert Paul/ or the Bearer One Pound Sterling on/ demand at their Office here/ By order of [G Mitchell Cashier]/ the Committee of [Geo mercer ------]/ Management/ No.[457/14]/ Commercial Bank".
