Copper alloy printing plate for a bank note from the Falkirk Union Bank. Half tone etching. Circa 1809. It is decorated with a small oval picture of a woman looking out to sea and with three ships on the horizon". Engraved on the obverse is "FIVE POUNDS FALKIRK NO THE FALKIRK UNION BANK PROMISE TO PAY OR THE BEARER ON DEMAND. FIVE POUNDS AT THEIR OFFICE HERE NO BY ORDER OF THE COMPANY CASHIER ENTD. BY FALKIRK UNION BANK". On the counterfoil is "N / £5".
