Description
Presentation sabre with a curved fullered blade and steel scabbard. The pommel is decorated with ridging and the guard bears a coat of arms. The blade has a crown and ornate floral design along the fuller on the left and to the right is a crown, hunting horn, and floral design. Etched on the left side of the blade "AN RIFLE VOLUNTEERS". The proof mark is embossed on the sabre with the word "PROOF".
Made circa 1830; thought to have been presented to Major Nimmo of Westbank House for his service with the 3rd Stirlingshire Rifle Volunteers.
