Description
China vase decorated with coat of arms with a sailing ship at the top. Transfer on the exterior "INGENIUM VINCIT OMNIA GRANGEMOUTH" and on the base is "W.H. GOSS". The coat of arms of Grangemouth are inaccurately drawn. The ship represents the steam boat Charlotte Dundas, which was built in Grangemouth. However, the lion rampant of Scotland has displaced the usual image of the stag with a cross between its antlers that represented the Abbey of Holyrood who owned Grangemouth for many years.
