Description
Iron model stag with a tree. It was shown in the 1851 Exhibition. Cast in one piece and moulded by J Sands in 1851. Stamped on the base is "Falkirk". There is also a brass plaque set on a triangular sectioned wooden stand. The plaque reads "Presented To THE BURGH OF FALKIRK by THE FALKIRK IRON Co Ltd NOV 1925. This casting of a HIGHLAND STAG, moulded and cast in one piece, was made in FALKIRK IRON WORKS and exhibited at The International Exhibition held in the Crystal Palace. 1851. It is understood to be the work of ALEXANDER SANDS one of the leading Craftsmen of his time".
