Description
Silver key to commemorate opening of Camelon School, 20th May 1907. It is engraved with a large thistle in the centre and two small ones at the bottom. The hallmark has three small squares, a tree, a lion and a monogram. It is engraved on the handle on its obverse is "PRESENTED BY THE ARCHITECTS (&) CONTRACTORS TO THE REVD. A ROSS TAYLOR CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD ON THE OCASSION OF HIS OPENING CAMELON SCHOOL AS RECONSTRUCTED 20th MAY 1907". On the reverse is "SCHOOL BOARD FALKIRK BURGH TOUCH ANE TOUCH A BETTER MEDDLE WI THE DEIL THEN THE BAIRNS O ' FALKIRK". Key made locally by G.N Hamilton (silversmith), 29 High Street Falkirk in 1907.
