Description
Large classic paisley pattern rectangular shawl in pale pinks, blue, green old gold and cream in the designs. Edged at the short ends with fringes. Finished on one side only. From research reversible shawls were invented in Paisley in 1865.
Paisley shawls, were usually folded in half when worn, but there was various folding techniques. They are big because they were worn instead of coats as the crinolines the women were wearing were so large, a shawl was the only thing that could cover them.
