Description
Medal issued by the Burgh of Bo'ness after the First World War to celebrate the return of peace. Disc shaped medal of aluminium alloy attached to a red, white, and blue ribbon. On the obverse is a shield containing a sailing ship; and the reverse depicts a Classical warrior kneeling before the winged figure of Peace offering up his sword. A child rests beside the figure of Peace holding an olive branch. Peace holds a dove, and there are two more below. The sun bursts through a cloud.

These medals were issues by many towns and local authorities to celebrate the Versailles Treaty and the Peace celebrations held across the UK focusing on the Peace Day public holiday on 19 July 1919
