Full length studio portrait of Robert Wilson, aged about thirteen, c1864, right arm leaning on a pedestal which is partially covered with a curtain. Stool or chair to the right. Dressed in a double breasted jacket, with braid around its edges and cravat with pin. Non matching trousers. The pedestal has been draped with the end of the curtain.

Robert Wilson was the only son of the Wilson family. He had eight sisters. He was born in 1851 and died c1873. Large families were common in Victorian times, as infant mortality was high.
