pattern; railing head

Maker
Carron Co
Description
Decorative wooden railing-head pattern. The rectangular wooden stem is pegged into the main part, and has been halved so as to presumably form an interlocking fitting with the railing. The stem is locked into a square shaped base with rounded edges, from which springs a curved palmette with three leaves, which are crowned by a simple arch with a ridged edge. The top part is a concave diamond form, shaped by four ribs, two of which taper out to the sides to form the two arms.
