Subject notes
Dunmore was the centre of the Forth salmon fishing industry. The method used was hauf netting, where one end of the net was paid out from a cobble on the water and the other was walked along the shore. Dunmore was a 'model' village built in Victorian times by Catherine, Countess of Dundonald, to house her estate workers and their families in good accommodation. It also had a pottery.
