mug (Frae Dunmore)

Maker
Dunmore Pottery
Description
Thin walled mug with handle. The sides are divided into two areas by inscribed scrolls placed on a slant. The panel opposite the handle has a dark green glaze, in the centre of which are inscribed the words "Frae Dunmore". The green has been removed in the recesses of the letters and these consequently appear cream in colour. The remainder of the exterior is cream with brown and green streaky dappling. The interior is simply cream. The whole of the glazed area has crazed.
Three small stilt marks on the base.
Stamped DUNMORE on the base, type 1 (even line).
