ring

Description
Copper alloy spiral, sometimes referred to as an ox goad or a finger ring, but see Vindolanda material. The spiral forms three rings, the central one of which has serrated edges.
"Two decorated spiral finger rings, made from a flat rectangular-sectioned strip which tapers to the terminals. One has just over three turns and lacks a tip. The central turn is decorated with closely spaced edge-nicking, slightly rounded from wear. Some ancient cracking, especially on the inside, implies the ring was insufficiently annealed during manufacture. D 22 m, H 14 mm, strip H 4 mm x T 1.5 mm. Slloy: gunmetal, some Pb. Of the second, only 1 1/4 turns survive. One end is broken but the taper suggests it cannot have been more than two turns. Remains of very worn edge-nicking are visible on one edge only, over three quarters of a turn. D 21 x 19 mm, H 5.5 mm, strip H 3.5 mm x T 1mm. Alloy: Gunmetal, some Pb."
