View looking east (the original caption is wrong) to the Steeple. The street is devoid of traffic but is thronged with pedestrians. There is an elegant lamp post on the left of the type erected in 1903 on the opening of Falkirk Power Station. The women's skirts are just above the ankle.

series 393/3. A chemist shop is indicated by the mortar and pestle sign and a hairdresser's by the red and white pole. Another shop advertises Jaeger clothing. The pedestrianised street of today restores the High Street to the almost traffic free environment of a century ago.
