bottle

Description
Brown and cream stoneware bottle with "DOMESTOS" on the shoulder. It has a small pouring spout/nozzle opposite a strap handle, with a knurled threaded stopper on the top. There are traces of paper labels on either side - one had had red printing on it.

Domestos was first produced in 1929 by Wilfrid Augustine Handley (1901–1975) [4] , a dentist from Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England, and sold door-to-door by salesmen who refilled stoneware jars bought by the customers. In 1961 the company was acquired by Lever Brothers, now Unilever.
