Six men and seven women pose informally while on a social outing. The men are wearing three piece suits and watch chains; four wear flat caps, one a boater and one is bareheaded. Some women wear leg o' mutton sleeves, others do not.

Subject notes
The dress indicates the late Victorian period. For men, wrist watches did not become popular until the early 20th century, although pocket watches continued to be carried by many older men into the second half of the century.
