Subject notes
View of two horses, one with the peaked neck collar and one without, drawing a reaper. One man is sitting on the machine with a side rake to keep the cutter free of the cut crop. The other man is on foot, driving the horses.

Some late 19th century reapers had two seats, one for the driver. Reapers were being replaced by this time by reaper-binders that also gathered the cut crop and bound it into sheaves.
