Description
9-pounder long gun made by Carron. On label "Despatched to the Carron Warehouse in London via the "Polly", William Honeyman master, on Saturday 23rd April 1797." Weight 1 ton 4 cwt.
On a 'garrison' carriage ie. brittle and lightweigt - used only for storage. Trunnion stamped 55287. Top stamped with a crown/ "B 1797 WG."According ot the ordnance numbers list published by Brian Waters in "Where Iron Flows like water" this number would put the manufacture date as pre 1797.
