Administrative History
The Labour Party had its origins in the Labour Representation Committee set up in 1900. There was initially no party structure, simply affiliated organisations. By 1906 there were 79 affiliated constituency parties and this number grew rapidly until by 1924 the Labour Party had enough MPs to take part in a coalition government.
