Description
Rusting knife made of iron, pear shaped with rilling on the handle. Potter's clay smoothing knife used by the "presser" after beating out a slab of clay to the required thickness. The potter would smooth out the surface by drawing the flat side of the knife blade across, before using the clay to line the in side of a mould. In constant use at the time the wally dugs were being made.
