Object detail

Name/title notes
Grangemouth Docks were originally operated by the Forth & Clyde Canal Co and then the Canal Department of the Caledonian Railway Co. With nationalisation in 1947 docks became the responsibility of the British Transport Commission. The Forth Harbour Reorganisation Scheme, 1967, led to Grangemouth Docks becoming part of Forth Ports Authority. In the 1970s, by volume of cargo, Grangemouth was Scotland's second largest port.
