Stenhousemuir Equitable Co-operative Society, Stenhousemuir, Falkirk, was established in 1861. Substantial losses in 1976 forced it to seek amalgamation with Falkirk and District Co-operative Society. The profits made were distributed to members as a dividend - the "divi" being in proportion to the amount each member spent in the various stores.
