The Vale Paper Co, Denny was established in 1894 by Alexander, James & Robert Luke. It amalgamated with Denny Paper Works in 1945 to form the Vale Board Mills.

According to John Rennie, (cf. letter in object history file) the company was established in 1894 by James, Alexander, Robert and John Luke. James took over the Headswood Mill from his father, John snr, who had previously leased the Headswood bleach mill in 1869. John jnr opened the Anchor Mill and Alexander and Robert opened the Vale Mill. The four brothers together founded the Vale Paper Co in Denny in 1894 with James Luke as Managing Director. In 1936 the Vale Paper Co was sold to Associated Paper Mills Ltd. The name was changed to The Vale Board Mills Ltd.
