Description
On the left is a chemical shell as a rough casting straight out of the moulding box and in the centre is a chemical shell once the engineer had 'finished' it. On the right is a 50 lb (22kg) aerial bomb. The other items are probably all parts of fuse mechanisms.

Chemical shells, for delivering poisonous gases like chlorine and mustard gas, had to be of the highest standard in order that they did not leak before being fired. The Falkirk Iron Company made 10,000 tons of munitions in the course of the First World War.
