Subject notes
Parts of the present building date from the 15th century but there have been substantial additions. In 1738 William Adam built the octagonal belfry and swept spire. In 1810 the church was extended to the north and the medieval church was demolished. In the 1960s the kirkyard was cleared of most of its gravestones.

There has been a Christian church on the site since at least 800 AD. The speckled appearance of one of the early church buildings gave rise to the name Faw Kirk.
