Description
Large collection of butterflies and moths collected from the donor's address at Bantaskine. Two large cabinets, over 5ft high with 30 drawers in each containing various moth and butterfly specimens, the bottom 4 drawers of the second cabinet are empty.
Within the collection is a ‘Beaded Chestnut’ (Moth) which has been admitted to the official ‘Scottish List’ for the first time. These specimen (Beaded Chestnut) are possibly the only ones known from Scotland and are first official record and the last (the species is now considered to be extinct north of the border).
